MINIMALIST: THE COHERENT, FUNCTIONAL INTEGRAL DESIGN OF THE WUNDERLICH ENGINE GUARD PURE

Engine guard? Usually known only from adventure bikes that occasionally go off-road. But underbody protection also makes sense for other motorcycle concepts. Even hand guards were originally reserved exclusively for enduro riders.
The functional Edge-Design and structural integration of our aluminium, one-piece engine guard PURE offers comprehensive protection for the engine casing and oil pan. The frontally and laterally integrated ventilation openings assist in cooling the engine, especially when covering long distances on the motorway. Angled deflector plates deflect stone chips or foreign objects thrown up by the front wheel, significantly reducing the risk of engine damage. Another advantage of this engine guard is that it diverts splashing water, for example when crossing ruts, downwards and thus significantly reduces thermal stress on the engine casing and seals, particularly when the engine is hot.
The elaborate, recessed fastening provides no attack surface and emphasises the Edge-Style to the fullest. The black powder-coated engine guard fits snugly around the engine, ensuring maximum ground and lean angle clearance. Openings ensure that collected water and spray can drain away freely.
It is solidly and recessed mounted at four points, so no mounting elements protrude. External forces and moments are distributed across four generously sized attachments to reduce load and moment peaks. Proven construction using decoupling rubber mounts in combination with step sleeves.
Typically Wunderlich, we have also ensured good accessibility for maintenance work.
The aluminium engine guard is corrosion-resistant and black coated. We have been able to optimise the component weight and at the same time achieve high component stiffness and mechanical form stability. The result is a minimalist, coherent, resistant, weight- and form-optimised engine guard following the design principle of “form follows function”, which fits snugly and perfectly flanks the motorcycle’s baseline. And it doesn’t look like an enduro.
